OptimCE pricing: free during the alpha
What is free today, what could change later, and what will not.
OptimCE is in alpha. During this phase, the hosted application is free, and installing it on your own servers is free for good. This page sets out what is free, what could change and what will not. It gives no price, no plan and no date: nothing of the kind has been announced to date.
What is free today
OptimCE Cloud, throughout the alpha
OptimCE Cloud is the hosted version, at app.optimce.be: nothing to install, nothing to maintain. It is free throughout the alpha phase. You create an account, then your community, and you get started.
Self-hosting, for good
All of OptimCE’s code is published under the Apache 2.0 licence: no cut-down edition, no proprietary core. You can install it on your own infrastructure, free of charge and without restriction, and that will not change. Both routes give access to the same features: the only difference is who hosts the application.
What the free offer covers
During the alpha, OptimCE Cloud is entirely free, with all its features and the annex services included: members and meters, allocation keys with their generation and simulation, billing of shared energy, the CWaPE administrative documents, the news board and polls. The details are on the energy community management software page.
What could change
A paid offer may come later, for the hosted version. If it does, alpha users will be told well in advance. Self-hosting, for its part, will remain free.
What it does not include
No service guarantee when self-hosting. On your own servers, you handle hosting, updates and availability yourself: no service level agreement (SLA) is provided on that route.
No price announced. For the hosted version, nothing is promised beyond the alpha except advance notice: no price, no plan, no service level.
Frequently asked questions
Is it really free?
Yes. OptimCE Cloud, the hosted version, is free throughout the alpha phase, annex services included. Self-hosting is free and without restriction. Both give access to the same features.
What happens after the alpha?
A paid offer may come later for OptimCE Cloud. Alpha users will be told well in advance. Self-hosting, for its part, will remain free.
Can I host it myself?
Yes. All the code is published under the Apache 2.0 licence: you can install OptimCE on your own infrastructure, free of charge and without restriction, including in a professional setting. You then handle hosting, updates and availability yourself.
Do I own my data?
The optimce.be privacy policy covers the website only: the application, hosted by Hostinger, is covered by a dedicated notice inside the application. When you self-host, the data stays on your own infrastructure.
